Our expert garage equipment installation engineers in the North West were engaged by Lanes Group to create a new commercial vehicle servicing and maintenance facility in Leyland, Lancashire, bringing together two former Preston sites under one roof to deliver a more complete service to the organisation's customer base across Lancashire.
Established in 1992, Lanes Group is now one of the UK's leading drainage and wastewater services contractors with over 2000 staff employed across 21 nationwide depots. Lanes delivers complete sewer services, reactive and preventative drain services, and septic tank installation, removal and routine emptying. Operating one of the largest fleets in its sector in the UK, Lanes Group has invested in its facilities in Leyland to enable the organisation to professionally maintain, service, repair and test its vehicles on site, getting vehicles back into service quickly.
Relocation of garage equipment & installation of new commercial workshop in Leyland, Lancashire
Lanes Group has consolidated its Preston operations into the new depot at Leyland, which is now open and home to Lanes Group's core drainage teams as well as teams from Sapphire Utility Solutions, a maintenance services provider to cleanwater, wastewater, gas, digital network and highways sectors, including Lancashire County Council, in the North West.
CCS was appointed to handle the garage equipment installation for the in-house commercial vehicle workshop, a versatile facility located in a repurposed building in Leyland designed to accommodate fleet vehicles ranging from light commercial vans to small trucks, wastewater tank vehicles and more specialist fleet vehicles such as Sapphire's "CityFlex" fleet and PMMA (Polymer Modified Mastic Asphalt) trucks.
Garage equipment relocated from our client's former Bamber Bridge site and installed in this new commercial vehicle workshop in Leyland, Lancashire, included:
- 5000KG 2-post vehicle lift
- ABAC air compressor, relocated into an external building
- 5 x oil storage tanks
- LEV fume extraction system
Relocating and reinstalling garage equipment such as this enables our client to maximise use and value from its current, serviceable assets. Many clients choose to de-install and reinstall safe and valuable garage equipment during a workshop relocation, establishing new depots with capacity for growth and supported by existing kit.

- 2 x in-ground vehicle inspection pits
- Hydraulic press

Lanes Group and Sapphire Utility Solutions have consolidated their operations into this repurposed building on a commercial and industrial estate in Leyland, Lancashire, giving teams a modern, up-to-date base which benefits from excellent transport links across the region.
Groundworks underway prior to installation of one of two prefabricated steel inspection pits, enabling complete servicing, maintenance and repair of larger commercial vehicles in-house. Groundworks include preparing the floor for the inspection pit, together with commercial brake tester and power supply throughout.
The first of two steel inspection pits following installation. Each pit, specified by CCS Garage Equipment and built in collaboration with our leading supplier partner, features galvanised steel access steps, integrated lighting and anti-slip flooring. Inspection pits are surrounded by professional installation of epoxy resin floor paint safety markings, ensuring the workshop's compliance with workplace safety regulations.
The commercial vehicle workshop's in-house test lane is specified and installed by CCS Garage Equipment to DVSA specifications and is equipped with a professional headlight aligner fitted to rails for complete vehicle testing by the client's engineer team. An epoxy resin floor paint scheme, including demarcation of walkways and hazards, was professionally installed throughout, creating a bright, safe and hardwearing workshop floor.
CCS Garage Equipment installed a complete suite of garage equipment for this commercial vehicle servicing and maintenance facility in Lancashire, including LEV exhaust fume extraction to all servicing areas and a reliable, hardwearing Nussbaum 4-post Combi Lift that provides versatile lifting capabilities to suit a range of vehicles across the fleet.
As part of this workshop installation project, CCS' garage equipment installation engineers de-installed, relocated and reinstalled this 2-post vehicle lift from the client's former premises in Bamber Bridge. Relocated garage equipment maximises value from existing assets, aiding the cost-effective design and installation of a major project such as this.
The workshop's ancillary services can be seen here, including lubrication hoses and reels, LEV fume extraction, and all distribution pipework. CCS designed and installed the workshop and its distribution of services for efficiency and safety in operation, maximising the potential offered by this larger, consolidated workshop.
CCS also relocated and reinstalled 5 lubrication storage tanks at the new Lanes Group workshop. Each bunded tank was installed professionally to protect the workshop, its people and the environment against leaks or spills, and connected to the lubrication distribution pipework serving this commercial vehicle workshop in Lancashire.
The client's existing ABAC air compressor was de-installed, relocated and reinstalled at Lanes Group's new workshop in Leyland, Lancashire, housed in its own unit and connected to the workshop's wider compressed air distribution network.
