Full garage equipment installation for Lookers Renault Stockport’s new workshop following devastating fire

Renault Stockport’s dealership hit the headlines in September 2019 when a huge fire ripped through the site’s building on St Mary’s Way, Stockport. Attended by up to 14 fire engines and specialist units, the fire severely damaged the service department in particular and all workshop equipment was written off by insurers.

New garage equipment design & installation for Renault Stockport installation

CCS was appointed by Lookers to work with architects, builders and the dealership team at Renault Stockport to completely refurbish and reinstall their service department with a new garage equipment installation. Our garage equipment design encompassed a refreshed workshop layout in the site’s new building, forming part of the site’s £3m overall refurbishment.

Although the business was relocated to a temporary site nearby during refurbishment, it was a priority following the fire to rebuild, refurbish and reinstall the St Mary’s Way dealership in order to give customers greater continuity of service. As soon as the building’s redevelopment was under way, garage equipment installation commenced in the service department to meet the client’s reopening timescales, managed throughout by CCS’ dedicated garage equipment installation project manager.

Our garage equipment installation for Renault Stockport included:

  • An additional 2 service bays and vehicle lifts, taking the client’s total bays to 12
  • 1 dual-revenue Class 7 ATL MOT bay
  • Wheel alignment bay
  • Fume extraction system
  • Compressed air & lubrication systems
  • Tyre changing equipment

Having worked with Lookers for many years, CCS enjoys an excellent relationship with the client team which enabled us to quickly understand how the workshop will operate, its preferred equipment, and to advise as to additional opportunities such as increased service bay facilities. Prior to commissioning, full training was delivered by CCS in the safe operation and regular inspection of garage equipment and vehicle lifts.

The new Renault Stockport dealership and workshop opened officially in September 2020, and we are pleased to see the business back to serving its customers in the local Cheshire and South Manchester area following its challenging year.
