⛔ Safer Stopping: Installing commercial brake testers with CCS Garage Equipment

15 Sep 2025

CCS Garage Equipment installs commercial roller brake testers and simulated load brake testers for commercial workshop clients throughout the UK and Ireland.

Reliable, accurate and hardwearing, commercial roller brake testers and simulated load brake testers installed by CCS Garage Equipment support the safe and efficient testing of commercial and heavy vehicles in line with DVSA standards.

From commercial vehicle dealers and leasing specialists, to in-house vehicle workshop facilities for well-known retailers, waste management companies, local authorities and emergency services, CCS partners with our clients to recommend and install commercial brake testers that keep essential vehicles safely on the road.

Following the DVSA's regulation change, mandatory laden brake tests must now be undertaken by commercial vehicle operators more regularly. At least four laden roller brake tests must be completed annually, with vehicles loaded to at least 65% of their design axle weight. In-house ATF lanes and vehicle testing facility operators are now reviewing their brake tester technology to ensure these updated standards can be met, with many exploring simulated load brake testers as an equipment upgrade for their commercial vehicle workshops.

Commercial brake testers & simulated load brake tester models installed by CCS offer features including:

  • Test-lane compatible roller brake testers that are hardwearing, managing frequent vehicle throughput
  • Simulated load brake testers add required weight to vehicle axles to create necessary testing conditions without the need to load the vehicle
  • Further simulated weight can be added up to the vehicle's maximum permissible weight through chains or straps tied and tightened to the axle or chassis
  • Remote control operation to increase axle weight as necessary
  • Dual-action hydraulic cylinders, each attached to the subframe or to brackets on the pit floor or wall
  • Pressure regulator valve for load adjustment
  • Mechanical roller locking
  • Axle weighing system and axle load simulator
  • Counterwise rotating rollers
  • Automatic switch-on, start-up monitoring, and cut-off functions
  • Single-wheel switching for testing individual wheels
  • Shock absorption tester

Optional brake tester ancillary equipment includes:

  • Widescreen, non-glare display monitors
  • Tablet control and readout units with optional wall-mounted charging stations and docking stations
  • Wall-mounted data entry consoles with monitor, keyboard and mouse
  • Floor-mounted, powder coated steel data entry cabinets with lockable door, monitor, keyboard and mouse

Installation of simulated load commercial brake tester for Adams Morey's new Bridgwater depot in Somerset

Part of an extensive garage equipment installation at this new-build commercial vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair workshop, CCS Garage Equipment completed the installation of a simulated load brake tester for commercial vehicle dealer Adams Morey.

Investing in cutting-edge simulated load roller brake tester technology enables Adams Morey to undertake comprehensive vehicle maintenance and testing using its in-house ATF lane, offering meaningful brake tests that comply with DVSA regulations. One of the first simulated load models installed by CCS's experienced engineer team, we're delighted with this state-of-the-art workshop that adds considerable capacity to our client's portfolio.
