5. East Midlands Airport vehicle maintenance workshop upgrades

Proof that everyone loves a good-looking workshop transformation, our upgraded flooring for East Midlands Airport's vehicle maintenance facility made a great impact, both on our team and our client's workshop engineers.

Our work at East Midlands Airport shows clearly the difference that investment not just in equipment but in a workshop's working environment can make. The workshop's old floor was tired and in poor condition, showing the signs of heavy use in recent years. Uneven or damaged workshop floors present hazards to those working in the space, and periodic refurbishment is recommended to preserve flooring and to enhance safety features.

CCS Garage Equipment created a floor design to suit operational and safety needs, including a guided walkway and hazard demarcation around potential fall areas such as inspection pits. Floors were diamond-ground to even out the surface before application of epoxy resin paint and anti-slip coatings in both the primary maintenance workshop and a second building which services larger vehicles such as firefighting units.

The upgraded workshop is safer, brighter and a more welcoming working environment for the airport's engineer team. We loved the end result!

4. Riverside Motor Group's Volvo Wakefield garage equipment installation

CCS' installation team has worked on a few Volvo dealership service centres this year throughout the country. Riverside's Wakefield dealership was completed recently and our team's chosen this smart installation at no. 4 of our 2022 countdown.

Dealership garage equipment installations never fail to impress and this project is no different. Riverside Motor Group celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022, instigating multi-million pound refurbishments at several of the group's sites in Yorkshire which handle sales, servicing and maintenance of new and used Volvo and Honda vehicles.

The Wakefield garage equipment installation featured a suite of works in a new servicing centre, including:

• Class IV MOT bay
• 4 x short platform vehicle scissor lifts
• 6 x fixed 2-post vehicle lifts
• Compressed air system
• Lubrication systems & equipment
• LEV fume extraction systems

The new workshop was recently commissioned and the client's workshop team is hard at work in the new facility.

3. Biffa Bromborough's new commercial wash bay lift

CCS loves trucks on lifts, and what better than a lift that helps to get that truck gleaming?

This wash bay ramp installation was a big hit in 2022, both with our team and our client. Replacing an old lift which was becoming unreliable, CCS specified the leading Stertil-Koni SKYLIFT wash bay ramp, which accommodates vehicles up to 35t and will service Biffa Bromborough's fleet of RCVs.

Groundworks modifications were made to the site, removing the old lift and extending the recess before installation of the new wash ramp. Two new hot pressure washers were also supplied, fully refurbishing the depot's commercial vehicle wash down facilities.

Stertil Koni wash ramps are highly reliable, and with excellent capacities and optional platform length extensions, suitable for some of the largest vehicles on the road.

2. Garage equipment installation for North Wales Police

In 2022, North Wales Police invested in a state-of-the-art workshop to service and maintain its broad fleet of specialist emergency services vehicles. Covering a large area, including urban and rural settings, North Wales Police operated a number of depots across the region but wished to consolidate services under one new, fully-equipped roof.

This spacious new 13-bay garage equipment installation not only looks fantastic but creates a central, highly efficient and safe working area for the Force's workshop team. Definitely a portfolio gem for CCS!

Our specification and installation work for North Wales Police included:

• Bespoke Dura workshop furniture, including small tool storage and integrated power, data, compressed air and lubrication systems
• New in-ground vehicle lifts
• Class VII brake tester
• 2 x dedicated motorcycle service bays
• Dedicated tyre changing and wheel balancing equipment bay
• Dedicated wheel alignment bay

Now commissioned and in operation, the new North Wales Police workshop is helping to keep essential emergency services vehicles on the road.

1. Commercial workshop installation for National Express, Birmingham

A popular choice for many of us, the new National Express coach and bus workshop in Birmingham is a state-of-the-art facility designed to take this leading bus and coach operator forward for the future.

Part of the local area's regeneration works around 2022's Commonwealth Games, National Express relocated its servicing, maintenance and administration operations to a brand new depot nearby which has been designed to modernise facilities and deliver additional capacity for both existing and new electric vehicles coming on board.

CCS was appointed to key elements of the National Express commercial vehicle workshop installation, including:

• Installation of oil distribution systems
• Installation of compressed air systems
• Installation of fume extraction systems
• Set-up of oil monitoring systems

National Express' new bus and coach commercial workshop is now up and running, helping the client to deliver a vital transport link for thousands of people nationwide.
